Catchments with higher proportions of agricultural land show higher amounts of water from previous precipitation events in the rivers, while young water in grassland- and forest-dominated areas can be retained. This has particular implications for nitrate, which can be flushed into the rivers more quickly with young water after nitrification. Additionally, denitrification of older nitrate in the soil results in predominantly young nitrate remaining. A longer transit time of water and nitrate can help support degradation to reduce substance loads in surface waters. In dieser Arbeit werden mit einem numerischen Modell die Auswirkungen der zunehmenden Starkregen- und Dürrereignisse auf den Transport und die Verteilung von Wasser und Nährstoffen wie Nitrat in Flusseinzugsgebieten im Harz mit Hilfe von Isotopensignaturen untersucht. Einzugsgebiete mit größeren Anteilen von agrarwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen weisen größere Anteile des Wasser aus vorangegangenen Niederschlägen in den Flüssen auf, während das junge Wasser in grünland- und waldbetonten Gebieten zurückgehalten werden kann. Catchments with higher proportions of agricultural land show higher amounts of water from previous precipitation events in the rivers, while young water in grassland- and forest-dominated areas can be retained. This has particular implications for nitrate, which can be flushed into the rivers more quickly with young water after nitrification. Additionally, denitrification of older nitrate in the soil results in predominantly young nitrate remaining. A longer transit time of water and nitrate can help support degradation to reduce substance loads in surface waters. In dieser Arbeit werden mit einem numerischen Modell die Auswirkungen der zunehmenden Starkregen- und Dürrereignisse auf den Transport und die Verteilung von Wasser und Nährstoffen wie Nitrat in Flusseinzugsgebieten im Harz mit Hilfe von Isotopensignaturen untersucht. Einzugsgebiete mit größeren Anteilen von agrarwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen weisen größere Anteile des Wasser aus vorangegangenen Niederschlägen in den Flüssen auf, während das junge Wasser in grünland- und waldbetonten Gebieten zurückgehalten werden kann. Dies hat besondere Folgen für Nitrat, welches nach der Nitrifizierung mit dem jungen Wasser schneller in die Flüsse gespült werden kann. Zusätzlich führt die Denitrifizierung von älterem Nitrat im Boden dazu, dass vorrangig junges Nitrat übrig bleibt. Catchments with higher proportions of agricultural land show higher amounts of water from previous precipitation events in the rivers, while young water in grassland- and forest-dominated areas can be retained. This has particular implications for nitrate, which can be flushed into the rivers more quickly with young water after nitrification. Additionally, denitrification of older nitrate in the soil results in predominantly young nitrate remaining. A longer transit time of water and nitrate can help support degradation to reduce substance loads in surface waters.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="520" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">In dieser Arbeit werden mit einem numerischen Modell die Auswirkungen der zunehmenden Starkregen- und Dürrereignisse auf den Transport und die Verteilung von Wasser und Nährstoffen wie Nitrat in Flusseinzugsgebieten im Harz mit Hilfe von Isotopensignaturen untersucht. Einzugsgebiete mit größeren Anteilen von agrarwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen weisen größere Anteile des Wasser aus vorangegangenen Niederschlägen in den Flüssen auf, während das junge Wasser in grünland- und waldbetonten Gebieten zurückgehalten werden kann. Dies hat besondere Folgen für Nitrat, welches nach der Nitrifizierung mit dem jungen Wasser schneller in die Flüsse gespült werden kann. Zusätzlich führt die Denitrifizierung von älterem Nitrat im Boden dazu, dass vorrangig junges Nitrat übrig bleibt. Eine längere Verweilzeit des Wassers und des Nitrates kann dazu beitragen den Abbau zu unterstützen, um die Stofffrachten in die Oberflächengewässer zu reduzieren.</subfield></datafield><datafield Catchments with higher proportions of agricultural land show higher amounts of water from previous precipitation events in the rivers, while young water in grassland- and forest-dominated areas can be retained. This has particular implications for nitrate, which can be flushed into the rivers more quickly with young water after nitrification. Additionally, denitrification of older nitrate in the soil results in predominantly young nitrate remaining. A longer transit time of water and nitrate can help support degradation to reduce substance loads in surface waters.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="520" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">In dieser Arbeit werden mit einem numerischen Modell die Auswirkungen der zunehmenden Starkregen- und Dürrereignisse auf den Transport und die Verteilung von Wasser und Nährstoffen wie Nitrat in Flusseinzugsgebieten im Harz mit Hilfe von Isotopensignaturen untersucht. Einzugsgebiete mit größeren Anteilen von agrarwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen weisen größere Anteile des Wasser aus vorangegangenen Niederschlägen in den Flüssen auf, während das junge Wasser in grünland- und waldbetonten Gebieten zurückgehalten werden kann. Dies hat besondere Folgen für Nitrat, welches nach der Nitrifizierung mit dem jungen Wasser schneller in die Flüsse gespült werden kann. Zusätzlich führt die Denitrifizierung von älterem Nitrat im Boden dazu, dass vorrangig junges Nitrat übrig bleibt. Eine längere Verweilzeit des Wassers und des Nitrates kann dazu beitragen den Abbau zu unterstützen, um die Stofffrachten in die Oberflächengewässer zu reduzieren.</subfield></datafield><datafield
