520 | |a Bien que les artistes contemporains aient été nombreux depuis la fin des années 1980 à utiliser des documents d’archives dans leurs travaux, le phénomène a été peu étudié jusqu’ici par les archivistes. Le but de cet article est de présenter les grandes lignes d’un projet de recherche que nous avons amorcé sur le sujet, plus particulièrement sur l’usage d’archives photographiques. Dans un premier temps, nous effectuons une revue de la littérature afin de montrer l’importance de cette tendance dans le milieu de l’art. Deuxièmement, nous esquissons les bases d’une typologie visant à mieux comprendre les motivations des créateurs et les orientations de leur production. Troisièmement, nous présentons cinq aspects qui sont autant de raisons de s’intéresser à l’utilisation artistique des archives d’un point de vue archivistique. Nous terminerons en soulignant la contribution de ce projet à l’avancement de la discipline et l’approche contextuelle qui a été privilégiée.<p<Embora numerosos artistas contemporâneos tenham utilizado documentos de arquivos em seus trabalhos, desde o fim dos anos de 1980, o fenômeno foi pouco estudado até agora pelos arquivistas. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as linhas gerais de um projeto de pesquisa que começamos sobre o assunto, mais particularmente sobre o uso dos arquivos fotográficos. Inicialmente, efetuamos uma revisão de literatura a fim de mostrar a importância desta tendência no meio artístico. Em segundo lugar, esboçamos as bases de uma tipologia que visa melhor compreender as motivações dos criadores e as orientações de sua produção. Em terceiro lugar, apresentamos cinco aspectos que são razões importantes à utilização artística dos arquivos, de acordo com a análise arquivista. Terminaremos sublinhando a contribuição deste projeto para o avanço da disciplina e a abordagem contextual privilegiada neste estudo.<p<Many contemporary artists have used archives in their works since the end of the 1980s. However this artistic trend has not been really discussed by the archivists until now. The intention of this article is to present the main outlines of a research project on the artistic use of archives by contemporary artists, more specifically of photographic images. In the first time, a review of the literature will show the importance of the phenomena in the artistic field. Then, a typology with the aim of showing the preoccupations of the artists and the orientations of their production is sketched out. Thirdly, we give five reasons to be interested in this new exploitation of archives from an archivist point of view. We will finish by underlining the contribution of this project to the advancement of the archival science and the contextual approach of our research. | ||

Then, a typology with the aim of showing the preoccupations of the artists and the orientations of their production is sketched out. Thirdly, we give five reasons to be interested in this new exploitation of archives from an archivist point of view. Dans un premier temps, nous effectuons une revue de la littérature afin de montrer l’importance de cette tendance dans le milieu de l’art. Deuxièmement, nous esquissons les bases d’une typologie visant à mieux comprendre les motivations des créateurs et les orientations de leur production. Troisièmement, nous présentons cinq aspects qui sont autant de raisons de s’intéresser à l’utilisation artistique des archives d’un point de vue archivistique. Nous terminerons en soulignant la contribution de ce projet à l’avancement de la discipline et l’approche contextuelle qui a été privilégiée.<p<Embora numerosos artistas contemporâneos tenham utilizado documentos de arquivos em seus trabalhos, desde o fim dos anos de 1980, o fenômeno foi pouco estudado até agora pelos arquivistas. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as linhas gerais de um projeto de pesquisa que começamos sobre o assunto, mais particularmente sobre o uso dos arquivos fotográficos. Inicialmente, efetuamos uma revisão de literatura a fim de mostrar a importância desta tendência no meio artístico. Em segundo lugar, esboçamos as bases de uma tipologia que visa melhor compreender as motivações dos criadores e as orientações de sua produção. Em terceiro lugar, apresentamos cinco aspectos que são razões importantes à utilização artística dos arquivos, de acordo com a análise arquivista. The intention of this article is to present the main outlines of a research project on the artistic use of archives by contemporary artists, more specifically of photographic images. However this artistic trend has not been really discussed by the archivists until now. The intention of this article is to present the main outlines of a research project on the artistic use of archives by contemporary artists, more specifically of photographic images. In the first time, a review of the literature will show the importance of the phenomena in the artistic field. Then, a typology with the aim of showing the preoccupations of the artists and the orientations of their production is sketched out. Thirdly, we give five reasons to be interested in this new exploitation of archives from an archivist point of view. We will finish by underlining the contribution of this project to the advancement of the archival science and the contextual approach of our research. |
