However, little research has explored EEG differences between adolescents with MDD and healthy controls, particularly EEG microstates differences. The aim of the current study was to characterize EEG microstate activity in adolescents with MDD and healthy controls (HCs).Methods: A total of 35 adolescents with MDD and 35 HCs were recruited in this study. The depressive symptoms were assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), and the anxiety symptoms were assessed by Chinese version of DSM-5 Level 2-Anxiety-Child scale. A 64-channel EEG was recorded for 5 min (eye closed, resting-state) and analyzed using microstate analysis. Microstate properties were compared between groups and correlated with patients' depression scores. Results: We found increased occurrence and contribution of microstate B in MDD patients compared to HCs, and decreased occurrence and contribution of microstate D in MDD patients compared to HCs. While no significant correlation between depression severity (HAMD score) and the microstate metrics (occurrence and contribution of microstate B and D) differing between MDD adolescents and HCs was found. Conclusions: Adolescents with MDD showed microstate B and microstate D changes. The obtained results may deepen our understanding of dynamic EEG changes among adolescents with MDD and provide some evidence of changes in brain development in adolescents with MDD. | ||

The obtained results may deepen our understanding of dynamic EEG changes among adolescents with MDD and provide some evidence of changes in brain development in adolescents with MDD. adolescents major depressive disorder EEG resting state EEG microstate first-episode depression Psychiatry Qianting Yu verfasserin aut Tingyu Yang verfasserin aut Yaru Zhang verfasserin aut Kun Zhang verfasserin aut Xingyue Jin verfasserin aut Shuxian Wu verfasserin aut Xueping Gao verfasserin aut Xueping Gao verfasserin aut Chunxiang Huang verfasserin aut Chunxiang Huang verfasserin aut Xilong Cui verfasserin aut Xilong Cui verfasserin aut Xuerong Luo verfasserin aut Xuerong Luo verfasserin aut In Frontiers in Psychiatry Frontiers Media S.A., 2010 12(2021) (DE-627)631498796 (DE-600)2564218-2 16640640 nnns volume:12 year:2021 https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyt.2021.775156 kostenfrei https://doaj.org/article/44c185243cba43d5af113bccd6847162 kostenfrei https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2021.775156/full kostenfrei https://doaj.org/toc/1664-0640 Journal toc kostenfrei GBV_USEFLAG_A SYSFLAG_A GBV_DOAJ GBV_ILN_20 GBV_ILN_22 GBV_ILN_23 GBV_ILN_24 GBV_ILN_31 GBV_ILN_39 GBV_ILN_40 GBV_ILN_60 GBV_ILN_62 GBV_ILN_63 GBV_ILN_65 GBV_ILN_69 GBV_ILN_73 GBV_ILN_74 GBV_ILN_95 GBV_ILN_105 GBV_ILN_110 GBV_ILN_151 GBV_ILN_161 GBV_ILN_170 GBV_ILN_206 GBV_ILN_213 GBV_ILN_230 GBV_ILN_285 GBV_ILN_293 GBV_ILN_602 GBV_ILN_2014 GBV_ILN_4012 GBV_ILN_4037 GBV_ILN_4112 GBV_ILN_4125 GBV_ILN_4126 GBV_ILN_4249 GBV_ILN_4305 GBV_ILN_4306 GBV_ILN_4307 GBV_ILN_4313 GBV_ILN_4322 GBV_ILN_4323 GBV_ILN_4324 GBV_ILN_4325 GBV_ILN_4338 GBV_ILN_4367 GBV_ILN_4700 AR 12 2021 |

Abnormalities in Electroencephalographic Microstates Among Adolescents With First Episode Major Depressive Disorder |
abstract |
Background: Recent studies have reported changes in the electroencephalograms (EEG) of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). |
