Several studies have shown that the maternal immune system, which is crucial for maintaining the pregnancy by ensuring maternal-fetal-tolerance, is disrupted in preeclamptic patients. Besides different immune cells, immune checkpoint molecules such as the programmed cell death protein 1/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1 system) and the T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3/Galectin-9 (TIM-3/Gal-9 system) are key players in upholding the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signals. Therefore, a clear understanding about the role of these immune checkpoint molecules in preeclampsia is essential. This review discusses the role of these two immune checkpoint systems in pregnancy and their alterations in preeclampsia. | ||

This review discusses the role of these two immune checkpoint systems in pregnancy and their alterations in preeclampsia. preeclampsia immune checkpoint molecules PD-1 PD-L1 TIM-3 Gal-9 Medicine (General) Marina Seefried verfasserin aut Manuela Franitza verfasserin aut Fabian Garrido verfasserin aut Nina Ditsch verfasserin aut Udo Jeschke verfasserin aut Christian Dannecker verfasserin aut In Medicina MDPI AG, 2016 58(2022), 2, p 157 (DE-627)354543296 (DE-600)2088820-X 16489144 nnns volume:58 year:2022 number:2, p 157 https://doi.org/10.3390/medicina58020157 kostenfrei https://doaj.org/article/60214dc9ca4e4f799c26d2f95d9d8803 kostenfrei https://www.mdpi.com/1648-9144/58/2/157 kostenfrei https://doaj.org/toc/1010-660X Journal toc kostenfrei https://doaj.org/toc/1648-9144 Journal toc kostenfrei GBV_USEFLAG_A SYSFLAG_A GBV_DOAJ GBV_ILN_20 GBV_ILN_22 GBV_ILN_23 GBV_ILN_24 GBV_ILN_31 GBV_ILN_39 GBV_ILN_40 GBV_ILN_60 GBV_ILN_62 GBV_ILN_63 GBV_ILN_65 GBV_ILN_69 GBV_ILN_73 GBV_ILN_74 GBV_ILN_95 GBV_ILN_105 GBV_ILN_110 GBV_ILN_151 GBV_ILN_161 GBV_ILN_170 GBV_ILN_206 GBV_ILN_213 GBV_ILN_230 GBV_ILN_285 GBV_ILN_293 GBV_ILN_602 GBV_ILN_2014 GBV_ILN_4012 GBV_ILN_4037 GBV_ILN_4112 GBV_ILN_4125 GBV_ILN_4126 GBV_ILN_4249 GBV_ILN_4305 GBV_ILN_4306 GBV_ILN_4307 GBV_ILN_4313 GBV_ILN_4322 GBV_ILN_4323 GBV_ILN_4324 GBV_ILN_4325 GBV_ILN_4338 GBV_ILN_4367 GBV_ILN_4700 AR 58 2022 2, p 157 |

The Role of the Immune Checkpoint Molecules PD-1/PD-L1 and TIM-3/Gal-9 in the Pathogenesis of Preeclampsia—A Narrative Review |
abstract |
Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disease which is characterized by abnormal placentation, endothelial dysfunction, and systemic inflammation. |

This review discusses the role of these two immune checkpoint systems in pregnancy and their alterations in preeclampsia.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield
