Giant Subcutaneous Hematoma Associated with Subcutaneous Insulin Injection in a Patient with Diabetes: a Case Report |
abstract |
The complications of insulin self-injection include subcutaneous bleeding, nerve damage, and subcutaneous induration due to repeated injection at the same site. However, considering the short length and thinness of the needle, it is unlikely that these complications will ever become serious. Here, we report a case of a 50-year-old man with abdominal giant hematoma due to insulin self-injection, which requires surgical treatment. The patient had obesity and took anticoagulants and steroids for 12 years. These drugs seemed to have affected the vessel wall and led to its compromise or destruction and subsequent hemorrhagic events. |

These drugs seemed to have affected the vessel wall and led to its compromise or destruction and subsequent hemorrhagic events.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">giant subcutaneous hematoma</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">insulin injection</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Surgery</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Jun Arata</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Shuko Kaito</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">In</subfield><subfield code="t">Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery</subfield><subfield code="g">2(2023), 4, Seite 147-149</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:2</subfield><subfield code="g">year:2023</subfield><subfield code="g">number:4</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:147-149</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">https://doaj.org/article/4164b770999b485c998c4bc6c1c20943</subfield><subfield code="z">kostenfrei</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jprs/2/4/2_2022-0035/_pdf/-char/en</subfield><subfield code="z">kostenfrei</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="u">https://doaj.org/toc/2436-259X</subfield><subfield code="y">Journal toc</subfield><subfield code="z">kostenfrei</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_A</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SYSFLAG_A</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_DOAJ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">2</subfield><subfield code="j">2023</subfield><subfield code="e">4</subfield><subfield code="h">147-149</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
