At a threshold pump pulse energy (PPE) of 0.23 mJ, a whispering gallery mode lasing was observed from the MEHPOF. The quality factor and free spectral range of the fabricated microcavity were found to be 3.69 × 103 and 0.25 nm respectively. The lasing modes from the MEHPOF were amplified using a GI fiber doped with the same gain material. The maximum gain achieved from the experiment is 17.5 dB.
