• An improved sol–gel method was developed to synthesize Li3V2(PO4)3/C cathode material. • The pH value had an obvious influence on the morphologies of the prepared powders. • Powders prepared at pH=4 had uniform size distribution with little agglomeration. • Powders prepared at pH=9 had a small particle size. • Discharge capacity and cycle performance were improved by changing pH value. |
