• FGF18 significantly ameliorates movement impairment in 6-OHDA-induced rat model. • FGF18 treatment prevents 6-OHDA-induced dopaminergic neuronal loss in the substantia nigra. • FGF18 protects PC12 cell from 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity via AKT/GSK3β pathway.
