Estimation of loss of quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) for patients with operable versus inoperable lung cancer: Adjusting quality-of-life and lead-time bias for utility of surgery

• We age- and sex-matched NSCLC patients to referents for estimating loss-of-QALE. • The utility gained from surgery is 9 QALY after adjusting QoL and lead-time bias. • Future studies are recommended to verify our stratified analysis in IIIA patients.
