1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 impairs the differentiation of effector memory T cells in vitro in multiple sclerosis patients and healthy controls

We studied the effects of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) on T cell memory in MS patients (n=10) and healthy controls (n=10). In vitro treatment of PBMC cultures with 1,25(OH)2D3, led to a decrease in the proportion of effector memory T cells with an increase in naïve T cells, compared to vehicle in both groups. Further studies to unravel the mechanism of this effect and to understand its long-term implications are required.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Gocke, Anne</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Calabresi, Peter A.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="n">Elsevier Science</subfield><subfield code="a">Li, Kuo ELSEVIER</subfield><subfield code="t">Decomposition of polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene blends in e-waste packaging resin and recovery of debrominated carbon materials by supercritical water oxidation process</subfield><subfield code="d">2020</subfield><subfield code="d">official journal of the International Society for Neuroimmunology</subfield><subfield code="g">Amsterdam [u.a.]</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)ELV005164184</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:279</subfield><subfield code="g">year:2015</subfield><subfield code="g">day:15</subfield><subfield code="g">month:02</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:20-24</subfield><subfield code="g">extent:5</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jneuroim.2014.12.018</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_U</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ELV</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SYSFLAG_U</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SSG-OPC-GGO</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1="b" ind2="k"><subfield code="a">43.13</subfield><subfield code="j">Umwelttoxikologie</subfield><subfield code="q">VZ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1="b" ind2="k"><subfield code="a">50.17</subfield><subfield code="j">Sicherheitstechnik</subfield><subfield code="q">VZ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1="b" ind2="k"><subfield code="a">58.53</subfield><subfield code="j">Abfallwirtschaft</subfield><subfield code="q">VZ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">279</subfield><subfield code="j">2015</subfield><subfield code="b">15</subfield><subfield code="c">0215</subfield><subfield code="h">20-24</subfield><subfield code="g">5</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="953" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="2">045F</subfield><subfield code="a">610</subfield></datafield></record></collection>

1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 impairs the differentiation of effector memory T cells in vitro in multiple sclerosis patients and healthy controls |
abstract |
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased susceptibility to multiple sclerosis (MS) and increased disease activity. Vitamin D is a potent immunomodulator but the effects of vitamin D treatment on T cell memory have not been explored. Further studies to unravel the mechanism of this effect and to understand its long-term implications are required. |
