• Three small molecules named BDTDPP, TBFDPP and BDFDPP are synthesized and charcterized. • With 0.3% DIO, PCEs reach 3.9%, 3.7% and 3.4% for BDTDPP, TBFDPP and BDFDPP. • Investigations show that BDC units have advantages in high efficiency optoelectronic materials.
