Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC): Zoonotic risks associated with psittacine pet birds in home environments
• E. coli isolated from psittacine birds in Brazil were eae + and stx2 +; this fact highlights the zoonotic risk of these animals. • The E. coli strains isolated from psittacine birds were classified as non-O157 Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC). • Some STEC isolates were classified with...

Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC): Zoonotic risks associated with psittacine pet birds in home environments |
abstract |
• E. coli isolated from psittacine birds in Brazil were eae + and stx2 +; this fact highlights the zoonotic risk of these animals. • The E. coli strains isolated from psittacine birds were classified as non-O157 Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC). • Some STEC isolates were classified within the B2 phylogroup and were clonally grouped using AFLP. |
