The role of the thalamus in schizophrenia from a neuroimaging perspective
• We reviewed evidence on alterations of the thalamus associated with schizophrenia. • The thalamus is involved in Schizophrenia, but the picture is complex. • Anatomical parceling studies found consistent evidence on the mediodorsal nucleus. • Studies on non-affected relatives preliminarily suggest...

The role of the thalamus in schizophrenia from a neuroimaging perspective |
abstract |
• We reviewed evidence on alterations of the thalamus associated with schizophrenia. • The thalamus is involved in Schizophrenia, but the picture is complex. • Anatomical parceling studies found consistent evidence on the mediodorsal nucleus. • Studies on non-affected relatives preliminarily suggest thalamic endophenotypes. • Imaging genetics relates thalamic alterations with a variety of molecular pathways. |
