Analysis of Y-chromosome STRs in Chile confirms an extensive introgression of European male lineages in urban populations
• A comprehensive Y-STR analysis (AmpF/STR® Yfiler™; Life Technologies) of urban Chilean populations was performed. • Various inter-population comparisons were carried out including different worldwide reference populations. • Enhanced discrimination capacity of the Yfiler panel was observed when co...

Analysis of Y-chromosome STRs in Chile confirms an extensive introgression of European male lineages in urban populations |
abstract |
• A comprehensive Y-STR analysis (AmpF/STR® Yfiler™; Life Technologies) of urban Chilean populations was performed. • Various inter-population comparisons were carried out including different worldwide reference populations. • Enhanced discrimination capacity of the Yfiler panel was observed when compared to minimal haplotypes. • Results indicate a predominant male European component in Chilean Y-chromosomes. • No substantial population stratification could be observed when examining Y-STRs haplotypes. |
