miR-1247 blocks SOX9–mediated regeneration in alcohol- and fibrosis-associated acute kidney injury in mice

• Alcohol and fibrosis-associated acute kidney injury is characterized by loss of the SOX9 protein. • The up-regulated microRNA miR-1247 targets the Sox9 mRNA. • The over-expression of miR-1247 is mediated by the elevation of histone H3 lysine 4 trimethylation.
