• Stress stimulates GnIH neurons. • GnIH is the mediator of stress by inhibiting the reproductive neuroendocrine axis. • GnIH increases pain and anxiety. • GnIH decreases locomotor activity, aggressive and sexual behavior. • GnIH may also mediate the effect of stress on behavior.
