Dynamic channel control and pricing of a single perishable product on multiple distribution channels
• We study dynamic channel control and pricing of a single perishable product distributed through multiple channels. • Two types of commission are considered, i.e., fixed and proportional commission contract. • The magnitude of the opportunity cost of capacity uniquely determines the optimal channel...

Dynamic channel control and pricing of a single perishable product on multiple distribution channels |
abstract |
• We study dynamic channel control and pricing of a single perishable product distributed through multiple channels. • Two types of commission are considered, i.e., fixed and proportional commission contract. • The magnitude of the opportunity cost of capacity uniquely determines the optimal channel control. • Provide a sufficient (and necessary) condition for the optimality of a nested channel control policy by commission rates for multiple independent (two dependent) channels. • Explore the impact of the substitution effect on channel control and gain managerial insights. |
