• Micro-holes arrays with different diameters (d) and spacings (l) were produced in YBCO CCs by laser drilling. • The critical current (I c) dependence on d and l shows nonlinear variations. • The critical temperatures of drilled CCs remain the same as virgin one. • The optimally drilled CCs exhibits strong flux pinning behaviors, maximally improved I c about 24%. • The pinning by grain boundaries based on electrons scattering mechanism was used to explain the I c enhancement. |
