• A series of novel 1,3-dimethylenecyclobutanes decorated with trifluoromethyl, carboxylate and phosphonate groups were synthesized. • New catalytic system [Cp*Ru(C10H8)]PF6/[Et3NBn]Cl for regioselective tail-to-tail allene dimerization was found. • Functionalized allenynes can be also applied for Ru-catalyzed dimerization after blocking of triple bond by means of triazole formation. • Some of 1,3-dimethylenecyclobutanes obtained were characterized by NOESY NMR experiments and X-ray analysis. |
