Assessment of bottom-up satellite rainfall products on estimating river discharge and hydrologic signatures in Brazilian catchments
• Satellite rainfall products (SRP) are valuable tools for water resources monitoring. • We evaluated three rainfall products over Brazil: SM2RAIN-ASCAT, GPM + SM2RAIN and ERA5. • We assessed the ability of SRP to estimate river discharge and hydrologic signatures. • Hydrologic modeling presented KG...

abstract |
• Satellite rainfall products (SRP) are valuable tools for water resources monitoring. • We evaluated three rainfall products over Brazil: SM2RAIN-ASCAT, GPM + SM2RAIN and ERA5. • We assessed the ability of SRP to estimate river discharge and hydrologic signatures. • Hydrologic modeling presented KGE > 0.5 in 80% of the 520 catchments analyzed. • SRP outperform ground-based data in estimating hydrologic signatures in some biomes. |
