• A novel laser and magneto-optical Er:CeF3 multifunctional crystal was successfully grown by the Bridgman method. • Er:CeF3 crystal has excellent optical properties which supports its effectiveness as a 1.5 µm laser gain medium. • Er:CeF3 crystal owns higher magneto-optical Verdet constants than those of pure CeF3 and commercial Tb3Ga5O12 crystals. |
