• It is found that CMC can change the habit of NAU·H2O crystals from plate-like to block-like. • The face indices of crystals with different habits were determined by experiments. • The synergistic effect of acid and CMC was analyzed by molecular dynamics simulation. • The electrostatic force is the main factor affecting the adsorption of CMC on crystal face (001). |
