Identification of 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaric acid in urine of patients with propionic acidaemia
By gas chromatographic mass spectrometric analysis, 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaric acid was identified in the urine of patients with propionyl CoA carboxylase deficiency. Simultaneously, large amounts of 3-hydroxyvaleric acid and 3-oxovaleric acid, as well as a number of metabolites previously well known...

Identification of 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaric acid in urine of patients with propionic acidaemia |
abstract |
By gas chromatographic mass spectrometric analysis, 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaric acid was identified in the urine of patients with propionyl CoA carboxylase deficiency. Simultaneously, large amounts of 3-hydroxyvaleric acid and 3-oxovaleric acid, as well as a number of metabolites previously well known in this disorder, were also found in the urine of the patients. It is suggested that formation of 3-oxovaleric acid and 3-hydroxyvaleric acid proceeds via 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaryl CoA as an intermediate by a mechanism similar to that of ketone body formation. |

Simultaneously, large amounts of 3-hydroxyvaleric acid and 3-oxovaleric acid, as well as a number of metabolites previously well known in this disorder, were also found in the urine of the patients. It is suggested that formation of 3-oxovaleric acid and 3-hydroxyvaleric acid proceeds via 3-hydroxy-3-ethylglutaryl CoA as an intermediate by a mechanism similar to that of ketone body formation.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="533" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="f">Wiley InterScience Backfile Collection 1832-2000</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Kuhara, Tomiko</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Inoue, Yoshito</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Shinka, Toshihiro</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Matsumoto, Isamuu</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Matsuo, Masafumi</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">in</subfield><subfield code="t">Biological Mass Spectrometry</subfield><subfield code="d">Chichester : Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company</subfield><subfield code="g">10(1983) vom: Dez., Seite 629-632</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)NLEJ159070465</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-600)2197367-2</subfield><subfield code="x">0306-042X</subfield><subfield code="7">nnns</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:10</subfield><subfield code="g">year:1983</subfield><subfield code="g">month:12</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:629-632</subfield><subfield code="g">extent:4</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/bms.1200101202</subfield><subfield code="q">text/html</subfield><subfield code="z">Deutschlandweit zugänglich</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_U</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-1-WIS</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_NL_ARTICLE</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">10</subfield><subfield code="j">1983</subfield><subfield code="c">12</subfield><subfield code="h">629-632</subfield><subfield code="g">4</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
