Kinetics of coil to α-helix to β-structure transitions of poly(L-ornithine) in low concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate
Conformational changes of poly(L-ornithine) [(Orn)n] were studied in a sodium dodecyl sulfate (NaDodSO4) solution by CD. (Orn)n adopted an unstable and a stable helical structure below and above the NaDodSO4 concentration range where β-structure was favored, respectively. CD stopped-flow was used to...

Kinetics of coil to α-helix to β-structure transitions of poly(L-ornithine) in low concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate |
abstract |
Conformational changes of poly(L-ornithine) [(Orn)n] were studied in a sodium dodecyl sulfate (NaDodSO4) solution by CD. (Orn)n adopted an unstable and a stable helical structure below and above the NaDodSO4 concentration range where β-structure was favored, respectively. CD stopped-flow was used to monitor the transitions from coil to the unstable helix, from the helix to β-structure, and from coil to β-structure. Only the rate of the helix to β-structure transition was accelerated by an increase in NaDodSO4 concentration, whereas the rates of the others were independent of NaDodSO4 concentration. The fractions of coil, α-helix, and β-structure in each conformation of (Orn)n caused by NaDodSO4 were computed by simulating a mixed spectrum of typical CD spectra for these structures to the experimentally obtained spectrum. The contents of the unstable and stable helical structures were less than 50 and 73%, respectively. |

The contents of the unstable and stable helical structures were less than 50 and 73%, respectively.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="533" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="f">Wiley InterScience Backfile Collection 1832-2000</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Takeda, Kunio</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">in</subfield><subfield code="t">Biopolymers</subfield><subfield code="d">New York : John Wiley & Sons, Inc.</subfield><subfield code="g">24(1985) vom: Apr., Seite 683-694</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)NLEJ15907066X</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-600)1480801-8</subfield><subfield code="x">0006-3525</subfield><subfield code="7">nnns</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:24</subfield><subfield code="g">year:1985</subfield><subfield code="g">month:04</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:683-694</subfield><subfield code="g">extent:12</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/bip.360240408</subfield><subfield code="q">text/html</subfield><subfield code="z">Deutschlandweit zugänglich</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_U</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-1-WIS</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_NL_ARTICLE</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">24</subfield><subfield code="j">1985</subfield><subfield code="c">4</subfield><subfield code="h">683-694</subfield><subfield code="g">12</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
