Replacement of SMe2 at the pseudo-alkylidyne μ-carbon atom of [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-C(CN)SMe2}]SO3CF3 by PR2H (PR2 = PEt2, PCyH, PPhH) results in the formation of the phosphonium salts [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-C(CN)PHR2}]SO3CF3 which upon deprotonation with NEt3 yield the corresponding neutral complexes [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-C(CN)PR2}].
