Influence of energy summing of α-particles and conversion electrons on the shapes of α-spectra in the region of the heaviest nuclei
Measured α-decay spectra of the isotopes ^2^1^5Th and ^2^1^3Ra were used to investigate the influence of energy summing of α-particles and conversion electrons, and Auger electrons, respectively, emitted after α-decays into excited daughter levels, on the shape of α-spectra. The isotopes were produc...

Influence of energy summing of α-particles and conversion electrons on the shapes of α-spectra in the region of the heaviest nuclei |
abstract |
Measured α-decay spectra of the isotopes ^2^1^5Th and ^2^1^3Ra were used to investigate the influence of energy summing of α-particles and conversion electrons, and Auger electrons, respectively, emitted after α-decays into excited daughter levels, on the shape of α-spectra. The isotopes were produced in heavy ion fusion reactions and were implanted into silicon surface barrier detectors after in-flight separation from the projectile beam. It was shown that the summing effects will cause (a) the occurrence of additional lines in the α-energy spectra and (b) a change in the relative intensities of α-lines belonging to the α-decay pattern of a certain isotope. The results for ^2^1^5Th and ^2^1^3Ra are used for a discussion of the α-decay properties of the isotope ^2^5^5104 and its α-decay products ^2^5^1No and ^2^4^7Fm. Especially the large discrepancies of the α-energies of ^2^4^7Fm measured in our experiments and literature values are interpreted as due to a summing between α and electron energies. |

Especially the large discrepancies of the α-energies of ^2^4^7Fm measured in our experiments and literature values are interpreted as due to a summing between α and electron energies.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="533" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="f">Elsevier Journal Backfiles on ScienceDirect 1907 - 2002</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Hessberger, F.P.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Hofmann, S.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Munzenberg, G.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Schmidt, K.-H.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Armbruster, P.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Hingmann, R.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">in</subfield><subfield code="t">Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A:</subfield><subfield code="d">Amsterdam : Elsevier</subfield><subfield code="g">274(1989), 3, Seite 522-527</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)NLEJ180854372</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-600)1466532-3</subfield><subfield code="x">0168-9002</subfield><subfield code="7">nnns</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:274</subfield><subfield code="g">year:1989</subfield><subfield code="g">number:3</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:522-527</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/0168-9002(89)90184-8</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_H</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-1-SDJ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_NL_ARTICLE</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">274</subfield><subfield code="j">1989</subfield><subfield code="e">3</subfield><subfield code="h">522-527</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
