A magic-angle rotor for NMR using a forced gas bearing
A new design for a rotor system to achieve spinning rates of the order of 3 kHz is presented. The design uses a simple cylindrical rotor, and involves a forced air bearing over the whole cylindrical surface. The jets of gas which make this bearing also cause the spinning. Powder-filled hollow rotors...

A magic-angle rotor for NMR using a forced gas bearing |
abstract |
A new design for a rotor system to achieve spinning rates of the order of 3 kHz is presented. The design uses a simple cylindrical rotor, and involves a forced air bearing over the whole cylindrical surface. The jets of gas which make this bearing also cause the spinning. Powder-filled hollow rotors spin smoothly, and are convenient to make and use. The whole system is suitable for magic angle rotation, such as is needed to obtain high-resolution NMR spectra of solids. Examples of spectra obtained using the device are illustrated and discussed. |

Examples of spectra obtained using the device are illustrated and discussed.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="533" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="f">Elsevier Journal Backfiles on ScienceDirect 1907 - 2002</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Balimann, G.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Burgess, M.J.S.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Harris, R.K.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Oliver, A.G.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Packer, K.J.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Say, B.J.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Tanner, S.F.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Blackwell, R.W.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Brown, L.W.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Bunn, A.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Cudby, M.E.A.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Eldridge, J.W.</subfield><subfield code="4">oth</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">in</subfield><subfield code="t">Chemical Physics</subfield><subfield code="d">Amsterdam : Elsevier</subfield><subfield code="g">46(1980), 3, Seite 469-475</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)NLEJ18497285X</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-600)1501546-4</subfield><subfield code="x">0301-0104</subfield><subfield code="7">nnns</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:46</subfield><subfield code="g">year:1980</subfield><subfield code="g">number:3</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:469-475</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="u">http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/0301-0104(80)85222-0</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_H</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-1-SDJ</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_NL_ARTICLE</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">46</subfield><subfield code="j">1980</subfield><subfield code="e">3</subfield><subfield code="h">469-475</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
