Modeling salt precipitation from brines on Mars: Evaporation versus freezing origin for soil salts
We develop a Pitzer model for perchlorate salt mixtures on Mars. * We model salt precipitation from a WCL solution during evaporation. * Our model is a significant improvement over FREZCHEM. * We conclude that salts at the Phoenix site formed by freezing, not evaporation.
