Kaye, Ben & Joyce Rosenberg, professor of Democracy and Justice Studies, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, delivered at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Green Bay, WI, Dec 19, 2015, is presented. Commencement speakers usually call on graduates to embrace the future. But Kaye is going to call on them to do something else: He is going to urge them to embrace the past. He wants them to remember who they are. It is time that they started remembering. But they need to do more than remember. They also need to act. They need to act both courageously and determinedly. It is time for them and their generation to transform this nation as generations of Americans did in the 1770s -- the 1860s -- and the 1930s and 194Os -- not to mention the 1960s. They rejected fear and gave real historical meaning -- indeed, historic and transcendent meaning -- to the finest ideals and aspirations. | ||

THIS GENERATION, TOO, HAS A RENDEZVOUS WITH DESTINY |
abstract |
A speech addressed by Harvey J. |

A speech addressed by Harvey J. |
