520 | |a The conceptualization of policies as mobile and mutable knowledge is the key feature of the recent debate on policy mobilities. Policy mobility studies have focused on the movement and translation of policies as well as on the impact of mobile policies on policy-making processes and governed spaces. Given that policy mobilities have mainly been examined in comparable institutional contexts, the current debate has neglected the role of organizational culture in the translation of policies. Organizational culture is understood as a set of shared assumptions that guide what happens in organizations by defining appropriate practices of policy making. The case study, South Korean adaptation policy, illustrates that organizational culture has a significant impact on the translation of mobile adaptation policy. Besides the claim to consider organizational culture more prominently in the field of policy mobility studies, this paper illustrates the translation process of adaptation policy in the South Korean political system. The practices in South Korean political institutions dealing with climate change adaptation are highly characterized by the avoidance of risks. The propensity to avoid risks leads policy makers to focus on technical solutions to climate change adaptation and to neglect the participation of civil society. | ||

Besides the claim to consider organizational culture more prominently in the field of policy mobility studies, this paper illustrates the translation process of adaptation policy in the South Korean political system. The practices in South Korean political institutions dealing with climate change adaptation are highly characterized by the avoidance of risks. The propensity to avoid risks leads policy makers to focus on technical solutions to climate change adaptation and to neglect the participation of civil society.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="540" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Nutzungsrecht: © COPYRIGHT 2017 Copernicus GmbH</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Social science research</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Research</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Policy sciences</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Environmental policy</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Corporate culture</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Climatic changes</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Case studies</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Mobility</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Politics</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Climate change</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Adaptation</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Institutions</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Geographica Helvetica</subfield><subfield code="d">Göttingen : Copernicus, 1946</subfield><subfield code="g">72(2017), 3, Seite 341</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-627)130122149</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-600)505952-5</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-576)015654915</subfield><subfield code="x">0016-7312</subfield><subfield code="7">nnns</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="1" ind2="8"><subfield code="g">volume:72</subfield><subfield code="g">year:2017</subfield><subfield code="g">number:3</subfield><subfield code="g">pages:341</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="1"><subfield code="u">http://dx.doi.org/10.5194/gh-72-341-2017</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="u">https://search.proquest.com/docview/1924491478</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_USEFLAG_A</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SYSFLAG_A</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_OLC</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SSG-OLC-ARC</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SSG-OLC-GEO</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">SSG-OPC-GGO</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_72</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_188</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_267</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_2092</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_2315</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_4012</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_4112</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">GBV_ILN_4314</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="936" ind1="r" ind2="v"><subfield code="a">RA 1000</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="951" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">AR</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="d">72</subfield><subfield code="j">2017</subfield><subfield code="e">3</subfield><subfield code="h">341</subfield></datafield></record></collection>

The role of organizational culture in policy mobilities - the case of South Korean climate change adaptation policies.(Author abstract) |
abstract |
The conceptualization of policies as mobile and mutable knowledge is the key feature of the recent debate on policy mobilities. |
