Abstract Under microwave irradiation, a series of hydrotalcite-like compounds (HTL) were prepared in a short time of 10 min. The thus synthesized samples were applied to the catalytic transesterification of dimethyl oxalate (DMO) with phenol, CuNi-containing hydrotalcites (CuNi-HTLR) were found to exhibit good catalytic properties.
