Overlay Cognitive Radio in Wireless Mesh Networks |
abstract |
Abstract In this paper we apply the concept of overlay cognitive radio to the communication between nodes in a wireless mesh network. Based on the overlay cognitive radio model, it is possible to have two concurrent transmissions in a given interference region, where usually only one communication takes place at a given time. We analyze the cases of wireless mesh networks with regular and random topologies. Numerical results show that considerable network capacity gains can be achieved. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. 2009 |

Based on the overlay cognitive radio model, it is possible to have two concurrent transmissions in a given interference region, where usually only one communication takes place at a given time. We analyze the cases of wireless mesh networks with regular and random topologies. Numerical results show that considerable network capacity gains can be achieved.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Cognitive radio</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Overlay cognitive radio</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Wireless mesh networks</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Capacity</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Souza, Richard Demo</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Pellenz, Marcelo Eduardo</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Wireless personal communications</subfield><subfield code="d">Springer US, 1994</subfield><subfield code="g">55(2009), 2 vom: 05.
