The Effect of Rolling on the Corrosion Resistance of High-Strength Cast Iron
Abstract The corrosion resistance of high-strength (H-S) cast iron is investigated in 20% $ H_{2} $$ SO_{4} $ solution after its cold and warm rolling with reductions of 45 and 70%. An increase in the corrosion resistance of the strained H-S cast iron is due principally to the uniform orientation of...

The Effect of Rolling on the Corrosion Resistance of High-Strength Cast Iron |
abstract |
Abstract The corrosion resistance of high-strength (H-S) cast iron is investigated in 20% $ H_{2} $$ SO_{4} $ solution after its cold and warm rolling with reductions of 45 and 70%. An increase in the corrosion resistance of the strained H-S cast iron is due principally to the uniform orientation of graphite elongated in the rolling direction. It is shown that the corrosion resistance depends on the arrangement of graphite particles oriented relative to the corrosion front. The anisotropy of the corrosion rate of strained H-S cast iron amounts to 230%. Both the mechanism and kinetics of the electrochemical corrosion of the strained H-S cast iron are discussed. © MAIK “Nauka/Interperiodica” 2003 |
