Triangulation as a basis for knowledge discovery in software engineering
Abstract Everyone agrees that reliable empirical “facts” must be derived from a series of investigations. However, the question of what is an appropriate framework for this series is an unresolved issue. Other articles in this issue present replication as the basis for this framework (Shull FJ, Carv...

Abstract Everyone agrees that reliable empirical “facts” must be derived from a series of investigations. However, the question of what is an appropriate framework for this series is an unresolved issue. Other articles in this issue present replication as the basis for this framework (Shull FJ, Carver JC, Vegas S, Juristo N (2008) The role of replications in Empirical Software Engineering, J Empir Softw Eng (in press)); however, alternatives exist! This brief note argues triangulation should be considered as the basis for this knowledge discovery (from empirical evaluation) strategy. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2008 |

This brief note argues triangulation should be considered as the basis for this knowledge discovery (from empirical evaluation) strategy.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Triangulation</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Knowledge discovery</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Software engineering</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Empirical software engineering</subfield><subfield code="d">Springer US, 1996</subfield><subfield code="g">13(2008), 2 vom: 27.
