We show that this interpretation is not correct. Scale invariance is an invariance condition that applies when all amounts are multiplied by a constant (without change of units). With this interpretation in mind, it is natural to consider other invariance conditions, for example one that applies when all amounts are increased by the same constant. In this paper, we analyze the consequences of several invariance conditions. | ||

We show that this interpretation is not correct. Scale invariance is an invariance condition that applies when all amounts are multiplied by a constant (without change of units). With this interpretation in mind, it is natural to consider other invariance conditions, for example one that applies when all amounts are increased by the same constant. We show that this interpretation is not correct. Scale invariance is an invariance condition that applies when all amounts are multiplied by a constant (without change of units). With this interpretation in mind, it is natural to consider other invariance conditions, for example one that applies when all amounts are increased by the same constant. In this paper, we analyze the consequences of several invariance conditions.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Scale Invariance</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Invariance Condition</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Division Rule</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Proportional Rule</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Bankruptcy Problem</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Social choice and welfare</subfield><subfield code="d">Berlin : Springer, 1984</subfield><subfield code="g">31(2008), 4 vom: 15. Scale invariance and similar invariance conditions for bankruptcy problems |
abstract |
Abstract A frequent motivation for the use of scale invariance in the bankruptcy literature is that it imposes that the outcome of a bankruptcy problem does not depend on the units of measurement. © Springer-Verlag 2008 |
