However, when studying the collective modes around thenormal state even beyond the transition point we find that a whole series of different collective modes (all of the same character) is unstable. From this set of modes we seek the «most unstable one», which we then argue could provide some information on the character of the new state. These ideas are applied to the case of a one-dimensional Fermi gas with repulsive δ-function interactions between the particles.
