Our results from three studies show that RPC has an asymmetric effect on gain and loss sensitivities. RPC also impacts how consumers evaluate performance levels that match the reference point. Our results from three studies show that RPC has an asymmetric effect on gain and loss sensitivities. RPC also impacts how consumers evaluate performance levels that match the reference point. These results show that RPC can help explain the heterogeneity in reference point effects across consumers.
