It was searched in four Korean database that case report or case series study related to pharmacopuncture since 2000. Among them, studies reported adverse reaction was selected. The characteristics, types of pharmacopuncture, adverse reaction patterns, follow-up were investigated separately. A total of 10 studies and 17 cases reported adverse reactions after pharmacopuncture treatment. The mean age was 45 ± 12.1 years and musculoskeletal system diseases (47.1%) and neurological diseases (41.2%) were most common. Bee venom (58.8%) and Bufonis Venenum (17.6%) accounted for most of the adverse reactions. And symptom also appeared to be serious, such as dizziness, seizure, unconsciousness, nausea, and dyspnea. Adverse reaction were also seen in Carthmi-Flos, Horminis Placenta, and Juglandis Semen. But symptoms were minor, such as uredo and rash and it disappeared within 24 h after treatment. There is a need to establish institutional procedures for enhanging safety of pharmacopuncture. | ||

abstract |
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate clinical adverse reaction of pharmacopuncture. |
