A Bayesian solution to the Behrens–Fisher problem
Abstract A simple solution to the Behrens–Fisher problem based on Bayes factors is presented, and its relation with the Behrens–Fisher distribution is explored. The construction of the Bayes factor is based on a simple hierarchical model, and has a closed form based on the densities of general Behre...

The construction of the Bayes factor is based on a simple hierarchical model, and has a closed form based on the densities of general Behrens–Fisher distributions. Simple asymptotic approximations of the Bayes factor, which are functions of the Kullback–Leibler divergence between normal distributions, are given, and it is also proved to be consistent. A Bayesian solution to the Behrens–Fisher problem |
abstract |
Abstract A simple solution to the Behrens–Fisher problem based on Bayes factors is presented, and its relation with the Behrens–Fisher distribution is explored. Some examples and comparisons are also presented. © The Author(s) 2021 |

Some examples and comparisons are also presented.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Behrens–Fisher problem</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Bayes factor</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Hierarchical models</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">del Castillo, Carmen</subfield><subfield code="0">(orcid)0000-0002-7770-831X</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Revista de la Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales</subfield><subfield code="d">Heidelberg [u.a.] : Springer, 2001</subfield><subfield code="g">115(2021), 4 vom: 19.
