520 | |a Abstract Rope forms the lifeline of industry, especially for mining and civil applications. In industries, ropes of varied configurations are used as per their output requirement. Draglines and rope shovels like HEMMs, though enormous and costly, contribute significantly to the overall production of any opencast mine with an expected high return on investment. In these cases, rope’s specifications and monitoring play a crucial role besides safety as well as production in view. In this context, plastic valley filled (PVF) rope and non-plastic valley filled rope types have been studied and monitored in two opencast mines of India. Their performance data have been collected and analysed using six-sigma-based statistical process control (SPC) tools and customer value management technique (CVM)—to identify and justify the out-of-control points for the low-performing ropes. The study has been strengthened having compared short (Cp)- and long-term (Pp) indices. It highlights the need to shift from the usage of non-PVF ropes to PVF ropes which has better performance and low maintenance cost. The parameter taken into consideration is the progressive working hour of the ropes. This paper provides greater technical insights and a base for further analysis of rope performance used in various processes. The huge volume of unmonitored data can be a substantial source of information with a potential to change the way mining is optimized in the current Indian scenario. | ||

The huge volume of unmonitored data can be a substantial source of information with a potential to change the way mining is optimized in the current Indian scenario.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Ropes</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Open-Cast Mining</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Statistical Process Control</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Customer Value Management</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"><subfield code="a">PVF and Non-PVF ropes</subfield><subfield code="7">(dpeaa)DE-He213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Paul, Anirban</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Dey, Netai Chandra</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Chakraborty, Kunal</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Banerjee, Sumit</subfield><subfield code="e">verfasserin</subfield><subfield code="4">aut</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="773" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Enthalten in</subfield><subfield code="t">Journal of the Institution of Engineers (India)</subfield><subfield code="d">[New Delhi] : Springer India, 2012</subfield><subfield code="g">102(2021), 2 vom: 03. Performance Analysis of PVF and Non-PVF Ropes using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Customer Value Management (CVM) Techniques in respect of Opencast Mines |
abstract |
Abstract Rope forms the lifeline of industry, especially for mining and civil applications. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2021 |
